There’s lots of options in fish food and always plenty of questions about the best food. It’s difficult to try out alternatives because experimenting with fish food can be dangerous. This has to be balanced with the fact that variety is good for them. Quality food is important.

You can provide the right environment with the necessary water temperatures and the perfect space for the fry to develop.  Everything seems to be perfect, the fish breed and a lot of eggs are produced. In the next 24-48 hours fry hatch but then begin to disappear.

Goldfish are called omnivorous because they have a wide variety of food they can eat. In fact they can eat almost everything. Let’s look at some options.

 

You can feed them anything from earthworms to brine shrimp, lettuce, oranges, shelled peas, daphnia, krill, tubifex worms, blood worms, eleodea, duckweed and also many other shrimp.

 

Goldfish flakes are important staple as they provide all the required nutrients for the goldfish.

 

Peas are also considered a very good food for goldfish. They’re helpful in treating constipation in fish.

Note: Providing goldfish with just one type of diet is not ideal for keeping them active and healthy. Variety is good.

Feeding brine shrimp eggs to goldfish fry is very important for their survival.

Note:  Be aware when introducing live food to your fish that it could carry diseases in to your aquarium. However there’s a lower chance of brine shrimp eggs carrying infectious diseases than earthworms.

 

Initially you can try them in small packets available for 1 or 2 servings. If you find them to be acceptable you can go ahead and feed them this food.
